Nunney Castle seen here at Paddington in
May 2001,after ariving with a train from Minehead. The tour commenced headed
by King Class No 6024 King Edward 1, with 5029 joining the train as pilot
engine from Bristol onwards. On arrival at Swindon, 6024 was failed owing
to a “hot Box”, resulting in Nunney Castle taking the train
forward to Paddington with “thirteen on”.Quite a pull –
though not unusual in say pre - war days. - Note the GWT HST on the right.
