Progress
Nunney has been
moved from her tent to the main engine shed in Tyseley to exchange the
remaining two wheel sets for some from Maindy Hall whilst work
on replacing 5029's tyres continues.
Many thanks to our friends
from the Great Western Society for allowing us to use the wheels, which
will enable Nunney to be moved back into the tent after removal
of the wheels so that we can carry on with the repaint and other cleaning.
I know that the loading of the wheels at Didcot was accompanied by an
awful turn in the weather! Thanks to Roger Orchard for his perseverance
in adverse conditions!
With our larger wheels removed, we will
be able to clean the frames thoroughly and continue the scrupulous examination
of the bearings and other components. All of which, so far, have been
in an excellent condition.
The tyres are set to arrive as planned
and we hope to be able to let you know the date of Nunney becoming
a 4-6-0 again soon!
